Fact or Fiction
Weston’s Lot – the name Like all Irish folklore, this story may have changed greatly from its origins. Weston’s Lot is a townsland in the parish of Rossmore, County Tipperary, containing one family home and farm. This farm is the ancestral family home of Margaret Ryan.

  • The story is told that during the Cromwellian Plantation of the 1650′s a group of soldiers were passing through an area near the village of Rossmore. A challenge was issued to see which horse could run fastest, the reward being the amount of land the fastest horse would cover.
  • The challenge was taken up by a number of soldiers, but a trooper named Weston was the winner. His horse ran so fast over the distance that it collapsed and died from the exertion. The soldiers reward was so named Weston’s Lot.
  • Margaret constantly states, “it’s a pity that the horse could not have ran further!”.
  • We have double and twin ensuite rooms available.
